Kate MacQuarrie is an award-winning botanist and naturalist with more than 30 years’ experience working with the plants, wildlife, and natural history of PEI. In addition to being PEI’s Director of Forests, Fish, and Wildlife, she runs PEI Untamed, a business dedicated to helping people learn, explore, and reconnect with the natural world around them. Kate has conducted research in PEI’s upland hardwood forests and coastal sand dunes, found plants not previously known to exist on PEI, published papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals, and is a regular contributor to local publications including RED magazine. She is currently working on two books for The Acorn Press.

Since graduating from NSCAD University with a BFA in Textiles in 2004, Rilla Marshall’s textile artwork has been exhibited in group and solo shows across Canada. She had received numerous grants for the creation and exhibition of artwork, and her work is in various public collections, including Global Affairs Canada Visual Arts Collection, and private collections in Canada, US, and UK. She works in her home studio in a century-old school house in Belfast, PEI / Epetwitk, Canada.

Eric Edward is the Co-director of Macphail Woods and has been a nature educator for over 25 years. During this time he helped create the Sharing a Love of Nature Summer Camps, School of Woodland Ecology and the Tree Sense - Chainsaw Safety Course. Most recently he authored Supporting Teachers - A Field Guide to Nature Eduation. 

Wild Child Programs are a project of Sierra Club Canada Foundation, a national and grassroots non-profit organization committed to protecting our environment, communities, and future.

Wild Child’s mission is to provide play based learning through repeated exposure to nature and PEI’s Wild Child Program encompasses 2 projects, Wild Child Nature Immersion and Wild Child Forest School. We also run some special projects whenever we get funding such as Pride ScOUTs, Roots and Shoots: a supportive space for gender creative kids and their caregivers (in partnership with PEERS Alliance), and Tales of Islandia (a nature-based Live Action Role Playing Game Program).
