Why We Celebrate

PEI has a long history of living and working in the forest. Our forests continue to be an important part of our Island — for wildlife, for our communities, and for the people who spend their days working and playing in them.

But healthy forests don’t happen by accident. They need to be understood, cared for, and protected.

We started the Festival of Forests as a way to bring people together around that idea. It gives us a chance to share what we know, learn from others, and introduce more people to the forests around them.

You don’t need to be a forestry expert to enjoy the festival. If you love being outside, are curious about the natural world, or just want to spend an afternoon in the woods, you’re welcome here.

Want to Be Part of the Festival?

The Festival of Forests is a community event, and we’d love to have you involved.

Interested in volunteering? We’re always looking for people to help with set-up, activities, welcoming visitors, and all the little things that make the day run smoothly.

Interested in being a vendor? We welcome local makers, craftspeople, organizations, and businesses that have a connection to nature, forests, conservation, or our Island community.

Want to help support the festival? The Festival of Forests is made possible with the help of our community. Donations help us cover the costs of putting the event together and keep the festival free and accessible to everyone.

If you’d like to volunteer, become a vendor, or make a donation, get in touch with us at admin@macphailwoods.org or (902) 651-2575

Thanks for helping us celebrate and care for PEI’s forests.
