Over the last 18 years Macphail Woods has developed a unique approach to nature education.

Using an intuitive and practical approach to teaching, children of all ages can become birdwatchers, botanists and trackers. â€‹Giving kids positive experiences in nature builds confidence, excitement about being outside, and a deeper appreciation for the world around us.

We run day camps for children aged 6 to 16, covering topics from bird identification to swamp ecosystems to fire lighting. We go for hikes in the woods and in streams and marshes, hoot for owls, play games, explore the fields and woods around the property, and create art. We learn best through hands-on experience, and each camp is an adventure.

Our goal is to give campers an exciting but safe week. Small camp sizes and a high teacher to camper ratio as well as years of experience are important factors in accomplishing this goal. Camp leaders are trained in first aid.

COVID-19 Protocols
We are working to ensure that our camps are helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If your child is showing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough), they cannot attend camp and must be tested. When monitoring for these symptoms, use your discretion. We know that children often have runny noses and allergies aren't uncommon. If your child is a close contact of someone with COVID-19, they must test negative with a PCR test, or with a rapid test 48 hours after exposure before they can attend camp. We are flexible with refunds for full and partial weeks missed. If you have any further questions, please get in touch with us!
